At the Uganda Tourism Board offices in Kampala, five people stand behind the briefing desk under the Explore Uganda sign, each holding a woven Explore Uganda plaque. Two wear the black Emaali polo with its leopard-print sleeve.

The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) presented the Emaali Cultural Festival to journalists at the Uganda Tourism Board offices in Kampala on 6 August 2026 — the press launch the Board had committed to facilitate in June. The briefing was held under the board’s Explore Uganda — The Pearl of Africa sign, with a Bukedde microphone and a second boom on the desk.

Two speakers took the desk: a Union official in a leopard-print cap and sash wearing the Iteso Cultural Union badge and a round Emaali badge, and a second speaker in a navy blazer. A document was signed at the table during the session. The photographs show the signing; they do not show what the document says.

On the evening news

Gugudde TV carried the preparations on its evening bulletin the same day. Its lower third named the Uganda Tourism Board and the Teso cultural exhibition, with the on-screen clock at 07:08pm.

NBS Television interviewed the Union’s Minister for Tourism, named in the broadcast’s own on-screen caption as Charles Eweku, Minister of Tourism, Teso Kingdom.

The Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday, 24–25 October 2026, 7am till late, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
